Sustainability

We design spaces to outlast the trends that built them.

Sustainable architecture is a design discipline here, not an add-on. It shapes the materials we specify, the systems we integrate and how a building’s energy use is planned from the first layout.

We design for sustainability where it truly matters, creating spaces that are built to perform, endure, and evolve.

Team Gallant Orbit

The lifecycle

Sustainability isn't one stage of a project. It runs through all four.

01

Sourced

Before a material reaches site, it’s judged on where it came from. We prioritise renewable, recycled and lower-carbon options over the default industry choice, wherever performance and budget allow it.

02

Built

During execution, efficiency is designed into the systems, not patched on once a space is finished. Layout, glazing and services are planned together to reduce the energy a building will need for its entire life.
Passive cooling through orientation, shading and ventilation
Layered lighting sized to actual need, not overprovisioned

AI-assisted simulation to catch inefficiencies before site work starts

03

Lived in

A space earns its sustainability credentials in daily use. Daylight, air quality and comfort determine whether people actually want to be there, and whether the building performs the way it was designed to.
Non-toxic, low-VOC finishes for healthier indoor air
Daylight-led planning that reduces reliance on artificial light
Building management systems that let energy use be tracked, not guessed at

04

Endures

The final test is time. Materials and systems are chosen so a space still performs, and still looks intentional, well beyond the day it was handed over, and can adapt as the needs around it change.
Durable finishes selected for decades, not for handover photographs
Layouts flexible enough to be reconfigured rather than gutted
Green roofs and planting used for long-term heat and water management

The material ledger

What we specify instead of the industry default, line by line.

Material

Conventional approach

What we specify

Structural blockwork

Conventional approach

Lower-carbon block or AAC alternatives

Paints & finishes
Standard solvent-based paint

Lower-carbon block or AAC alternatives

Insulation
Minimal or unspecified insulation
Insulation matched to climate and building envelope
Timber & joinery
Unverified sourcing

Reclaimed or certified timber

Glazing
Standard single-pane glass

Insulated, high-performance glazing

Lighting
Constant-on, unzoned fixtures
Zoned LED with smart, load-based controls

Less material.

More daylight.

Lower energy.

Longer life.

Technology, used to cut waste

AI and simulation catch inefficiency before it's built, not after.

_Architectural Simulation

i.

Simulation before construction

AI-assisted modelling flags inefficiencies in a layout or system while a fix is still a drawing revision, not a site rebuild.

ii.

Energy-optimised layouts

Layout planning that accounts for daylight, airflow and occupancy patterns, rather than a generic floor plate applied everywhere.

iii.

Augmented reality reviews

On-screen design walkthroughs that catch clashes and material misjudgements early, reducing rework and site waste.
At scale

The same standard, from a single office fit-out to a township-scale development.

i.

Sustainable urban development

Green building practices and energy-efficient systems applied to community and township-scale planning, not only individual interiors.
ii.

Public-private infrastructure

Environmental responsibility built into the infrastructure and civic projects we take on through public-private partnerships.
iii.

Vendor & supply standards

Vendor programs that favour partners demonstrating a genuine commitment to sustainable materials and construction methods.
iv.

Knowledge sharing

Educational and training initiatives that carry sustainable design practices to the next generation of architects and designers.
